One other reviewer noted this hotel is on the "east" end of the island. It is NOT! It is actually at the southwest portion of the island, about 40 minutes (without traffic) south of Lahaina. The weather here is better than Lahaina and Ka'anapali too as the rains hit those areas first before filtering down to Wailea. We were there for 5 days in March and it rained on us for about 20 minutes on one day - that was it. Friends in Ka'anapali said it rained on them all day every day that same week! This hotel is gorgeous but VERY pricey. Well worth it in my opinion as you are away from the touristy areas and feel almost as though you have your own private condo on the beach, but you can still drive to get where you need to be! Allow extra time during rush hour as most roads are only one lane in each direction and the traffic into Lahaina at 5 p.m. is a nightmare! All rooms also have a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and sink area and the kids will have their own space as you can close the doors to the bedroom for privacy. The bathroom is HUGE and you could have a party in there! We did have to BEG for our President's Club amenities, but the management here is superb so be sure to speak up to a manager (not the front desk or concierge) if something is amiss as they will certainly take care of you. Also, parking is a nightmare so use the valet!

This is a fantastic property. It is a little different from its neighbors because it is not overwhelming in size. The pool area has a wonderful water slide, with a swim up bar. The grounds are wonderfully manicured. I prefer this location in Maui to the busier, Lahaina area, as this is in Wailea. If you have never been to Maui, there is more to do on the West end of the island, this is on the eastern end, but Maui is small enough that it won't matter. The rooms are all 2 room suites at minimum. Very clean, and maintained to perfection. The service was superb. Many movie stars stay here, as the Kea Lani has everything one could ask for in a hotel, but is never too big, noisy, or crowded. The most expensive rooms are actually bungalows on the beach, each with their own private swimming pool. I believe they have around 20 of these, ultra private mulit room units. Upon checkout, I notified the desk I was going to leave and before I knew it, my luggage was packed in my car and my car was waiting at the front lobby area. I didn't even ASK! With a lovely beach area, if it is possible to have a large hotel be romantic, this is it! You won't be dissapointed.
